Chairs and Trust

It’s interesting how we jump into our cars without a thought as to whether they will start. We head out to a meal and sit in our chairs without a thought as to whether they will hold our weight. We jump on airplanes and fly around the world without a thought about the mechanisms holding that aircraft in space and yet… when it comes to God we doubt. Our experiences with cars, chairs and air planes shape our expected experience. So if you’ve never had your car unexpectedly not start or a chair come crashing down under you, you might not give these things thought. You will simply trust that they will work the way you expect them to. The same is true with God. It’s our experience or lack thereof that determines our faith.

So what if we approached God the same way we approach these other things? What if we allowed ourselves to have daily experiences with Him? Is it possible that we could learn that He does have our back everyday and that we can trust him? Proverbs 3:5-6 says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

Trust Him. It’ll be worth it.
