Give thanks

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5:16-18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

In all circumstances? But God, what about in those really messed up circumstances? What about those down right evil circumstances? You still want me to give thanks? The answer is YES!! God wants us to give thanks despite the circumstances because AS WE GIVE THANKS we learn to trust that He knows exactly what He’s doing, even if we can’t immediately see it. Remember Noah, he kept on building that boat despite ridicule, despite the labor itself, despite there being NOT ONE DROP OF RAIN for 100+ years. He just kept building. And we must do the same. Even when we feel stupid for doing it. Even when we feel like God’s forgotten us. Even when… you fill in the blanks. Because every time I give thanks it’s a reminder to me that God knows what he’s doing even if I can’t see the blessing yet...

After those 100+ years Noah sure was glad he kept building. We too can count on our reward. It is as sure as the rain…
