“Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children.” Ephesians 5:1
There are so many examples in the Bible of God’s instruction for us to intentionally do His will. The truth of the matter is that WE are the biggest hindrance to our spiritual growth. WE are the ones that decide which path to follow. All that God desires for us to do is INTENTIONALLY choose Him. Unfortunately, it is our tendency to choose other things. We choose jobs, spouses, entertainment, food, vacations, children, parents, pets, the news, our health… literally everything else. And we do it easily because it makes sense to choose those things.
But what was God’s example? He chose everything but Himself. He went as far as to literally DIE for us - same people who would one day choose something else - and He did it knowing we would make that choice.
So how do we get more intentional? The answer is clear:
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33
If we are intentional about a relationship with God then everything we seek will be given. Trust God.
