Trust Him for peace

Philippians 4:6-7 - Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Trust me, God says. Give up your ideas of control and comfort and allow me to infuse your life with peace. Great promise and yet we continue to chose worry, stress and our own answers. Why? The simple answer, we don’t like to guess outcomes and we certainly don’t like to wait on answers. And that’s what God requires, me to let go of my need to control and me to be patient. But my life story of instant gratification wrestles against that model and so when God follows up and says we have to “die daily” with Him, it’s an acknowledgement that He knows it’s not easy. But guess what else He knows and promises? Peace. And not just any peace. A peace that passes ALL understanding. And please don‘t miss this. He doesn’t promise your expected outcome. He promises peace. And that’s how you know he is working. If you are at peace, He is at work; if you’re not He is not. It’s that simple.
