Wisdom’s Journey..

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

Let’s start with some context. Is the Bible suggesting that we be AFRAID of God? Absolutely not. The Bible does suggest that we “regard God with reverence and awe.” When you think about the text from that context the meaning becomes so much clearer. If I am in AWE of something I am MUCH more likely to want to learn about that thing. The same is true of God. When I recognize just how amazing God is both in theory as well as reality I begin to appreciate how awe inspiring He really is. And out of that experience with Him I automatically will seek out more. My husband and I have been on a journey through the Proverbs and a foundational thing we have learned is that true wisdom comes not from a knowledge about God but true wisdom comes out of experiencing God. And the best part is that he is AWE INSPIRING. You are guaranteed an experience that will leave you wanting more while gaining more.
